Do Ivy League decisions come out on the same day?

What Is Ivy Day? – Ivy Day is the day, usually in late March, when all Ivy League schools release their regular admissions decisions online. The eight Ivies—Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, and Yale—typically release their decisions at the same exact time as well.

1. This time varies every year but tends to be either 5 pm or 7 pm ET,
2. Top schools that are not in the Ivy League typically have different decision release dates.
3. In 2022, Amherst released its admissions decisions earlier than Ivy Day on March 20, whereas Caltech released its decisions on March 12.
4. Occasionally, a non-Ivy school’s decision release date overlaps with Ivy Day; NYU, for instance, released its decisions on Ivy Day in 2018 (though at an earlier time).

Ivy Day decisions are only for students who applied regular decision to at least one Ivy League school, For example, if you applied regular decision to Brown, Dartmouth, and Harvard, you could expect to get your admissions notification online for each school at the same time on Ivy Day.

Note that students who applied early decision or early action will receive their Ivy decisions earlier, usually in December or January depending on the school. Because all Ivies release their admissions notifications at the same time through their respective online portals, and because applicants are (understandably) eager to get their results as soon as possible, Ivy Day often means long loading times and a bigger chance of page crashes due to the immense online traffic.

Therefore, although it’s perfectly OK to check your admissions status as soon as the clock strikes Ivy admissions decisions time, just know that you might not be able to access your decision(s) as quickly as you hoped to. If you hit any major online traffic or are facing constant page crashes, it might be better to get off your computer and wait an hour or two until the traffic dies down a bit and you can check your admissions results without issue. Applying to an Ivy? Then you might end up here at Yale.

Can you get rejected during early action?

Just Before You Reapply to a College – Applying Early Decision or Early Action can lead to one of three possible results: acceptance, deferral or denial. If you get accepted via early decision, relax and enjoy — although you will have to enroll in the college since Early decision is binding,

But if it’s a deferral or a denial, there’s no need to apply to the same school via regular decision. A deferral means that your application will automatically be reviewed with the rest in the regular decision pool. So, in other words, no reapplication is necessary. But if it’s an outright denial, don’t submit a regular decision application to the same institution.

That’s because it’s not allowed — you can apply to a college only once within one admissions cycle. Needless to say, you can reapply the following year. But if the quality of your application isn’t that different from the previously rejected one, it’s probably a much better idea to devote your resources to apply to other colleges.

Are you more likely to get accepted with early action?

Admission odds – Generally speaking, early action programs do not significantly increase your child’s odds of getting into colleges, especially at highly selective schools. They simply allow your child to find out sooner whether or not they’ve gotten in.

• Moreover, if your child is not accepted early action, their application will likely get deferred to the regular decision pool and get evaluated once more.
• The third possible outcome is that your child’s application will be rejected outright.
• Admission rates for early decision programs are somewhat higher than early action and regular decision programs.

By applying early decision, your child will be demonstrating much-appreciated serious interest to their top-choice college. And because the decision is binding, the school will be protecting their yield rate (i.e., the percentage of admitted students who choose to enroll there), which factors into college rankings.

1. Another possible reason for higher early decision admission rates is that early decision applicants often, on average, have stronger grades, standardized test scores, and overall applications relative to the regular decision pool.

Is it better to apply early action or regular decision?

Improves Your Odds – Keep in mind that the school’s standards and the overall strength of your application are important factors in whether you get accepted, whether you choose early decision or apply later in the application cycle. However, if you apply early you may have a better chance of getting into your college of choice.

Typically, early admission rates are higher than regular or overall admission rates for most schools. At some schools, the admission rate can be substantially better for early admission candidates. In fact, of the students who applied early to the University of Pennsylvania, nearly 25 percent were accepted, compared to only 9 percent who were admitted through the regular application process.

Currently, about 450 colleges offer some sort of early admission program so chances are you’re interested in at least one that offers it.

These apartments also have multiple, lockable bathrooms within each apartment, allowing residents of the apartment to designate each bathroom for use by a specific gender. A limited number of apartments are designated as program spaces. Priority for selecting spaces will first go to current South Campus Commons and The Courtyards residents who are eligible to renew current leases, followed by students currently living in on-campus residence halls who will enter their third year in college in the upcoming fall semester.

How long does it take to hear back from U of M admissions?

After You Apply –

Within two weeks of submitting an application, students will receive an acknowledgement that their application was received. Within four weeks, students will be notified if any items are missing (self-reported grades, test scores, application fee, etc.). Missing items will also be listed in the online Application Tracker. When the application is complete, students will receive an email indicating that the application is complete and when they will receive a decision.
