College Park has a lot of great qualities and very few downsides. The suburb and college town is family and kid friendly while also having a fun college town aesthetic. There are many good restaurants, stores, and amenities within the town. The town is very diverse and makes anyone from any religion, culture, or race feel accepted and safe.
Being only 40 minutes from dc and very easy metro access the town is also great for commuters and students who wish to peruse an internship or job in the city. Overall great town, great people, and great attitudes. The only downside to college park is the construction that is constantly going on for the new purple line and new UMD facilities.
Sometimes this causes traffic jams and can make driving around the university a bit of a pain, but avoidable. College Park is a good college town. Walkability is definitely high, and the food around the town is diverse. The neighborhood is an excellent and quiet place to live.
Every morning, the neighbors would come out to say hello and continue to have a blessed day. The way our community comes together shows the significant and positive outlook on living around like-minded people. However, the crime rate is also high, so it’s dangerous to be out during the night time in the city if you are not on or near campus. The neighborhood has been going through lots of changes the last 4 years. There has been a movement towards social justice and a push for more engagement and humane treatment of our neighbors.
People are motivated to make this a more inclusive place and an environment for excellence and I have sincere beliefs that we are headed in that direction. I love the access to D.C. via the Metro, and the ability to go easily to Baltimore or Virginia via the highway. I also love the proximity to good places of entertainment like museums, parks, and even the University itself.
I love how people are trying to come together and help each other through the pandemic here in College Park. The government of College Park has been super responsive and been proactive in putting out resources for residents. Come for the College, Stay for the Community.
It is a great place to live as a students! The neighborhoods are safe and the people are so kind. There are over 271 different food spots to choose from, also various clubs, lounges and a really cool bowling alley. You will never be bored in college park. I have live here my whole life and I really enjoy it.
There is a lot around, different neighboring cities are easy to get to, and there is always something to do. I’ve grown up in College Park and not much has changed. All of the neighbors are wonderful and friendly and rarely do we have cases of any sort of crime; whether it’s domestic or lawful.
A new family moves into my neighborhood every year or so and it’s wonderful. Families walk by and neighbors offer to help each other with their groceries; it’s a very wholesome place to live and I wouldn’t have grown up anywhere else. I recently moved to College Park but so far so good. The University of Maryland is here, making it a place to party and D.C is about a 25 minute drive.
the cost of living is affordable. If you work 10 miles or more in any direction of College Park traffic can be rough. Due to Covid -19 traffic is not as heavy as it normally is. I have lived in College Park my whole life, and I love it. I have enjoyed living in this city so much, that I plan on staying here for college.

A smaller college town that has adequate transportation options and some decent selection of restaurants, shops, and services. College Park offers a lot of different cuisines.
