Our Class C RV Remodel Continues...

1/17/2017

We've been hard at work, people. Gearing up for 2017 and another fantastic year of travel. If it feels like Maude has been continuously undergoing months of Class C RV remodel work, well that's because she has. Between cushion reupholstering and solar setup, there have been projects in pending-mode for quite some time.

However, the good news is, by the end of this month, all of our huge, looming projects will be complete. (Sigh of relief) I can't really believe we're saying that, because it has felt like things have been up-in-the-air since we started. We're absolutely looking forward to the day when everything is running smoothly, and our small RV looks like a new woman.

In the meantime, however....here are a few photo updates of everything that's been happening in the past few weeks.
Stay tuned for some more updates as we wrap up these projects and get back on the road!

So I am interested in how the fridge turns out, I am kinda in the same boat. I live in an RV which the previous owner swapped out the RV fridge for a 120v mini fridge.

Right now when I travel its the ice chest and ice until I plug into shore power somewhere, however, I plan to do the solar and inverter thing to have it running all the time.

I would love to see the numbers on what your fridge uses, how well your solar panels refresh your batteries and how often, if ever, you need to use your generator.

I hope its not too much trouble, just nice to see someone thinking through all the same problem solving and math that I am right now.

Hi Thomas!

Thanks so much for writing. With a solid month and a half under our belt of using the solar setup, we have to say it's pretty darn awesome. I cannot believe we didn't invest in this sooner. We opted not to reroute any wiring from the rig and simply plug into the inverter when need be. This is everything we have run off the inverter at one point or another: phone chargers (2), a nutri bullet, laptop chargers, a bissel vacuum, and of course our refrigerator. The fridge draws about 2.3 amps per hour if that, and has successfully kept all our food cold. Sometimes we turn the fridge off for a bit when we use higher amp appliances, but normally it stays on 24 hours. We have found that the panels recharge rather quickly, especially if only using the fridge. We haven't had to turn the generator on once, except for routine maintenance to keep it in check :)

Hope this was helpful, and if you have any more questions, we are all ears! :)

Hi Josh! Thank you for saying that. It definitely has been a blessing and a challenge throughout the years. We have some big things in store over the next few months so make sure to keep in touch!
