Our second article is officially published in Suncoast Pet Magazine, and boy, does it feel good. One of the highlights for us on the road is being able to give back to the community in some shape or form. By writing for Suncoast Pet, Vanessa and I have the opportunity to travel to different pet rescues and shelters throughout the country and feature ones that we think deserve more recognition. This is important for a few reasons:
1. Maybe these pet groups aren't getting enough attention or resources to help animals properly.
2. Sharing each rescue or shelters' unique ways in raising funds might inspire other shelters throughout the country to do the same.
3. Bringing awareness to a certain group and recognizing their efforts might be the motivating force they need to keep making a difference in the pet community.
I could go on. Alas, it's a rewarding way for us to be involved in the pet community on the road as much as we were at home.
In this issue, Vanessa and I traveled down to Everglades Outpost, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center. We stumbled upon the Outpost last year after rescuing a turtle from the middle of the street and needing to find it a safe place to come out of its shell. We loved the facility and how they cared for the animals so much, that we decided to feature them in the January/February issue.
You can read the article in entirety here at Suncoast Pet Online. Or simply subscribe to the magazine and receive a hard copy in the mail six times a year. That way you'll have a little piece of The Roamans right in your own home :)
Happy tails and happy trails!
This past week, we made it down to South Florida and finally hit the beach. It's been a long time coming, and we desperately needed some sun, sand, and surf. But, the most exciting part of the entire beach bum venture, was that we finally were able to hang our hammock from Hobo Hammocks.
We absolutely can't stop raving about these hammocks. What initially drew us to them was the social movement that the company is working to promote. For every hammock that is sold, a meal is provided for the homeless. The idea came about when Jake, the founder of the company, and a friend decided to live out of their hammocks while studying for the National Board Dental Exams. Although they chose to be voluntarily homeless, the circumstances allowed for Jake's wheels to start turning, and he decided to make a difference in the lives of those who were permanently homeless.
But besides having such a strong impact on their community, we also love Hobo Hammocks simply because their product rules. They have a ton of different colors to choose from, along with a double hammock style. The double hammock fit us both comfortably. Like two little snug pups, we swung back and forth in the breeze of the Atlantic. The hammock is a parachute-like material, with dual vibrant colors for each. We chose the Sunset color, which is a bright orange and red. It looked so lovely against the sand and sky. A definite stand-out among the earthy tones of Mother Nature.
Hobo Hammocks has a lifetime guarantee, if you needed ANOTHER reason to love this brand. When you buy a hammock, you're literally buying one for life. If ever the hammock breaks or malfunctions, all you need to do is send it back in and they'll ship you a replacement for free. So you also get security and longevity with every hammock.
At first, we were a bit apprehensive taking our hammock out of the bag, because it was so securely packed. But after it came water-falling out with ease, we realized hanging it would be a cinch. Even if you're struggling to find out just how the heck to hang the dang thing, the Hobo Hammocks website has some videos and instructions to make it a simple process. We literally hung ours in about 2-3 minutes. Each hammock comes with straps and carabiners, which are SUPER convenient and durable. Imagine, 2-3 minutes and you'll be swinging your little heart out.
When we were finished, we just rolled up the hammock like before, and fit it back in the already-attached pouch. Voila. That's usually my nightmare to be honest... fitting things back into their original form. Don't even get me started on newspapers. Grrrr.
We can't wait to take our hammock everywhere with us, however, you don't need to be travelling to enjoy. Everyone can benefit from swinging. Seriously. Just disconnecting for a few minutes and letting something else carry the weight for a while is both relaxing and rejuvenating.
If you're diggin' on these hammocks and are looking to purchase one for you or a friend, we have you covered. Click on this link to get one of your very own: Let's Buy a Hobo Hammock

The Roamans' Blog is happy to announce that we have officially won our first award. RoverPass has declared us one of the Top RV Lifestyle Blogs of 2015.
If you aren't familiar with RoverPass, you should be. Their mission is to create meaningful memories at campgrounds and RV parks all across the land for their fellow Rovers. They think of themselves as a giant tent of fun for their camping and outdoor-loving friends and continually aim to create a value-driven, seamless experience for all.
But if that isn't enough to get you to love them, their values are almost perfectly aligned with ours. RoverPass says, "We believe real experiences trump things you can buy and the pursuit of a great memory is a higher ideal than the pursuit of money."
We couldn't be more thrilled to receive this award from RoverPass. Our purpose when we hit the road was to inspire people. We want to inspire them to travel, despite their age or financial situation. We want to inspire them to pursue their own truth and happiness despite where society pushes them to go. We want to inspire them to collect experiences, memories, and adventure rather than collecting a house full of things. By winning awards like this, we are able to reach a wider audience and continue our pursuit of inspiration.
What's more, RoverPass decided to include us in their latest blog:
Which RV Accessory Upgrades Are Worth Getting & Which Are Not – Here Is What The Experts Say
Thank you to RoverPass again for this honor, and thank you to everyone who follows, supports, and encourages our blog. Onward The Roamans go....
Over the past few months, Vanessa and I have made some very difficult, yet rewarding decisions. We had grown tired of conventional living -- working 45+ hours each every week, sitting in hours of traffic, having little-to-no time together in evenings, and so forth. We were both exhausted mentally and physically, and our lives and relationship were suffering. Thankfully, this exhaustion prompted dialogue between us to where we discussed what would make us happy and where our efforts and energy should be directed. Do we continue to work so hard to pay for things we really don't need? Do we continue to sacrifice our time together in order to follow the scripted American dream? Do we exhaust ourselves in order to maintain a life of "security"? The answer was a resounding "NO".
We wanted travel. We wanted experience. We wanted time together.
Thus began our adventure into non-conventional, RV living. We quit our jobs, risking financial security, we began to pare down our belongings, and we bought our first RV --Maude. We hope you follow along on this journey as we travel across the country and live a life that is meant to be experienced and enjoyed.
